About Joe

Born in New Jersey, educated in Washington, DC and working in corporate America, Joe Babits knows how to fight!

Joe’s family moved to Hauppauge, New York when he was in grade school where his dad worked as an electrical engineer. A trade he learned while serving in the US Navy during the Korean War. His mom was a homemaker where Joe was joined by a brother and sister. Life in Hauppauge was a leafy suburban neighborhood that loved the New York Mets since Buddy Harrelson and Ed Yost of the ’69 World Series Champions grew up there.

After high school, Joe headed South to Washington for his education, both in academia and government bureaucracy.

Joe was the first in his family to get a four-year college education. He attended George Washington University as an undergraduate and then for his MBA in Finance and Investments at the GW School of Business. After graduating from George Washington, he crossed the Potomac River to Northern Virginia to obtain his law degree from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. The law school is known for its conservative leaning in law and economics and is one of the top new law schools in America.

After graduating from law school, Joe went directly to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Washington in their honors program. He spent a decade at the SEC and served as Counsel to the Commissioner and Special Counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel in the Division of Corporate Finance.

Here Joe received a unique insight into the “Swamp” and its’ operations. Unique knowledge that he now brings to his congressional race of how Washington works (or does not work). How it also so easy for elected officials, like Bill Posey, to get caught up in being a part of “The Hill Gang”, promise to stay only briefly and then becomes a part of problem. Bill Posey is now running for his NINTH term in Washington!

Joe left Washington and joined Royal Dutch Shell, plc as their lead Securities Counsel. He advises on all aspects of US Securities laws and has represented Shell before the SEC, Congress and the US Justice Department. Joe also has extensive knowledge and experience with both UK and European securities regulations. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his legal work including recently being named to Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers in the United States and featured in Fortune Magazine. Joe is uniquely qualified to cut through the red tape and Drain the Swamp in Washington.

Joe lives with his wife, Alathia, in Vero Beach and recently celebrated the wedding of their daughter, Chandler.

On the Issues

  • Secure the Border

Codify President Trump’s Executive Order denying asylum to those who cross Southern Border illegally, Require Mexico to stop border crossings or face sanctions, and Mobilize the US Military to secure the border.

  • Drain The Swamp

Establish Term Limits for US Senate & House of Representatives to just two terms. I will work to lower Congressional salaries from $174,00 to medium income of $62,000 until Constitutional term limits passes, and end the Deep State by identifying all federal workers as “at will” employees, making it easier to hold bureaucrats accountable.

  • Protecting Our Veterans

All our Nation’s heroes deserve adequate housing and medical care. I would sponsor legislation making this a fundamental right of those who have served our country, while also proving mortgage free housing to surviving family members of fallen servicemembers.

  • Eliminate Deficit Spending

Reduce the salary of members of Congress and the President for each year that our national budget is in deficit. Reduce wasteful government spending, and foreign aid programs for each year that we continue

deficit spending. Move federal agencies out of DC and to lower costs states to break up bureaucracy and reduce costs.
